Forensic Nursing Series

The Forensic Nursing series of online courses provides healthcare professionals with information about caring for victims of violence and sexual assault. These individual forensic training courses are designed for forensic nurses or other health care professionals seeking to expand their knowledge. This training is intended to improve the healthcare response to victims of violence using a patient-centered forensic approach.

Individual Courses for Continuing Education Credit

Individual courses in the Forensic Nursing program are designed to provide all nurses and other health professionals with an overview of essential aspects of nursing care provided to victims of sexual assault. They provide step-by-step explanations, videos, interactive learning activities, and case studies to enhance your understanding of this complex content. State and nationally renowned experts authored each course and reflected current practice trends in Forensic Nursing practice.

You may access and enroll in any courses in the sequence that best matches your learning needs. A passing score on the post-test and completion of the evaluation for each course provides continuing education contact hours.

The Piedmont Area Health Education Center, in conjunction with the Cone Health Forensic Nursing Program, developed these courses in partnership with Duke Endowment, North Carolina Governor's Crime Commission, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, FPG Child Development Institute, California Clinical Forensic Medical Training Center, and the California District Attorneys Association.
